SF WOW Announces Winners of "Top 25 Women On The Web" Awards
 
Nationally Renowned Diverse Women Recognized in the Leading Edge of New Media
 
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (December 14, 1999) - San Francisco Women on the Web (SF WoW) announces the winners of its prestigious Top 25 Women on the Web Awards. The award recognizes the achievements of 25 local and international women who have most inspired people worldwide with their efforts to advance technology, contribute to the community, and set an example as successful business women in the Internet and new media industries. It also emphasizes the community-based network of women helping each other in technology-related fields.
 
The complete list of winners (which include Carol Bartz, CEO, Autodesk; Ellen Hancock, President & CEO of Exodus Communications and Carly Fiorina, CEO and President, Hewlett Packard) are available at http://www.top25.org. The winners will be honored at the Top 25 gala event on January 31, 2000, at the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason in San Francisco. The theme of this year's program is "Leaders of the Millennium".
 
"SF WoW is excited to have the opportunity to honor these 25 women" said Mary Choy, Steering Crew Point Woman for SF WoW, "they have continuously made strides in the Internet and high-tech community, serving as examples to thousands of women who work in the industry and taking on leadership roles helping women in technology-related fields."
 
The winners were chosen from a nomination pool of over 200 women worldwide. A panel of judges, including many former Top25 award winners, selected the winners of the Top 25 awards. The judges' panel consisted of Rebecca Lynn Eisenberg, Esq.- Vice President of New Market Development, Ecast, Inc. Columnist, Nouveau Geek, CBS.MarketWatch.com, Columnist, NetSkink, SF Examiner; Roya Zamanzadeh, CEO, Pear Transmedia; Lisa Voldeng of UberBabe; Janelle Brown, writer for Salon; Nikki Douglas, Writer for RiotGrrl; Lavonne Luquis, Co-founder of Latino Link; and Evi Nemeth, XOR's Director of Research & Development.
 
Judging criteria included how the nominee helped build community, how she gave back to that community, and her recent accomplishments. Judges distributed winners over several categories: business, design, activism/community, journalism, engineering, and education.
